How to Build a Custom Valorant Crosshair
Valorant gives you a surprisingly deep crosshair customization system, but the in-game sliders can feel a bit clunky when you're trying to compare options side by side. Our builder solves that — every change you make updates the preview canvas in real time, so you can see exactly what your crosshair will look like before you ever paste a code into the game.
Understanding the Settings
The crosshair is split into three parts: Primary settings (color, outlines, center dot), Inner Lines (the four lines closest to the center), and Outer Lines (the lines further out that respond to movement and firing spread). Here's what each does:
- Color — Choose one of Valorant's 8 preset colors or enter a custom hex. Cyan and white are the most popular for visibility on most maps.
- Outlines — A dark border around the crosshair lines. Helps the crosshair stand out against bright backgrounds like the Fracture map's desert sections.
- Center Dot — A dot at the exact center point. A lot of pros pair a center dot with short inner lines to get precise headshot alignment.
- Inner Lines — Length & Offset — Length controls how long each arm is. Offset is the gap between the center of the crosshair and where the lines start. Increase offset for a more open crosshair, drop it to zero for lines that meet in the middle.
- Firing Error — When enabled, the inner lines expand outward as you shoot, showing your actual bullet spread. Beginners benefit from this because it teaches you when to wait for your crosshair to reset before taking the next shot.
- Movement Error (Outer Lines) — The outer lines expand as you run or jump, giving you a real-time indicator of how inaccurate your shots would be if you fired right now. Most competitive players turn off outer lines entirely once they understand movement accuracy.
What Makes a Good Competitive Crosshair?
The best competitive crosshairs tend to share a few traits. They're small enough to not obscure the enemy model at medium range, but visible enough that you're not squinting to find your aim point in dark corners. Here's a solid starting point that works for most people:
- Inner lines only (no outer lines)
- Length: 4–6, Thickness: 2, Offset: 2–3
- Opacity: 0.8–1, Outlines: on (thickness 1, opacity 0.5)
- Firing error: off (encourages proper shot timing)
- Color: white or cyan
From there, use the builder above to tweak until it feels right. Run a couple of deathmatch games after any change — your brain needs a few minutes to adjust to a new crosshair before you can judge whether it actually helps your aim.
Importing and Exporting Codes
The crosshair code you see in the builder is a standard Valorant share code. You can paste it into Valorant at Settings → Crosshair → Import Profile Code (the download icon at the top of the page). The game reads the code and applies all the settings instantly — no restart needed.
You can also go the other direction: if you've already got a crosshair code from a pro player or a friend, click Import in our builder and paste it in. The sliders will update to reflect those settings, so you can see exactly what's going on and tweak individual values to your taste.
Crosshair Codes vs Manual Settings
Crosshair codes are just a compact text representation of your crosshair settings — think of them like a save file. They contain all the same information you'd set manually in the Valorant settings menu, just compressed into a single string you can share with anyone. There's no third-party software involved, no risk of account bans, and no downloads required. It's an official Riot Games feature built into every copy of the game.
