This Privacy Policy explains how ValoGuide ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use valoguide.com. By using our site, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Account Data

If you create an account, we store your email address, a hashed version of your password (we never store plaintext passwords), your chosen username, and optional profile fields you fill in (rank, region, agents, availability, avatar image).

Inventory Data

When you build and publish an inventory, we store the list of items you selected (weapon skins, bundles, cards, etc.) and your display name. This data is linked to your account if you're logged in, or stored anonymously. Published inventories are publicly accessible via a unique link.

Usage Data

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to collect anonymized usage data — page views, session duration, country, and device type. This data does not identify you personally. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies for authentication sessions (if you have an account) and theme preferences. We use localStorage in your browser to save your in-progress inventory builder state — this data never leaves your device until you publish. Third-party services (Google Ads, Google Analytics) may set their own cookies per their privacy policies.

Contact Form Data

If you submit our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and message content solely to respond to your inquiry. We do not add you to any mailing list.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • To analyze site usage and improve user experience (via Google Analytics)
  • To serve relevant advertisements (via Google AdSense)

3. Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google may use cookies and device identifiers to show personalized ads based on your browsing history. You can manage your Google ad preferences at adssettings.google.com. For more information, see Google's advertising policies.

4. Third-Party Services

  • Contentful CMS — We use Contentful to manage guides and marketplace content. Contentful processes data per their privacy policy.
  • Riot Games Valorant API — We fetch publicly available game asset data (weapon names, skin images) from Riot's official API. We do not access your Riot account or any personal Riot data.
  • NextAuth.js — Session management for authenticated users. Session tokens are stored in secure, HTTP-only cookies.

5. Data Retention

  • Account data: retained until you delete your account
  • Published inventories: active for 90 days (re-publishable with an account)
  • Contact form submissions: retained for 90 days then deleted
  • Analytics data: governed by Google's retention policies (typically 14 months)

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights including: access to your data, correction of inaccurate data, deletion of your data, and objection to processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us via our contact form.

7. Children's Privacy

ValoGuide is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us immediately.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
